Playwrights of 2014
Here are the previous talented playwrights who showcased their work in the 2014 OC-Centric New Play Festival.
Erica Bennett
Author of "Bender"
Playwright Erica Bennett is also a tenured librarian at Fullerton College. Her short documentary Mendez v. Westminster: Families for Equality has aired on KOCE-TV (OC’s PBS affiliate) since October 2010.
In May 2012 Bennett’s play Water Closet was read by the White Horse Theater Company at the Dramatists Guild in New York. A Waffle Doesn’t Cure Insomnia was published in the Best American Short Plays 2011-2012.
Bennett received her B.A. in Theater from CSUF and her MLIS from UCLA. Bennett is a member of the Dramatists Guild, New Voices Playwrights Theatre, and the Orange County Playwrights Alliance.
Kerry Kazmierowicztrimm
Author "Gray People"
Kerry Kazmierowicztrimm graduated from Syracuse University with a B.F.A. in Acting and a Minor in Creative Writing. He first came out to the West Coast through a fellowship provided by Aaron Sorkin. Kerry has pilots and feature screenplays in various stages of development at several production companies and has won several awards for his writing and acting. Kerry is thankful for every moment, both great and terrible, that he has experienced because each new situation has informed his writing, allowing for an increased depth of characterization that would not have been possible without going through all the good and bad that the world has to offer.
Lew Riley
Author of "Saint or Sinner?"
Lew Riley is a screenwriter (who isn't?), a writer, editor, English teacher, and
playwright. Several of his plays have been published and produced, including
Game Show, Married Not Buried, and Where Was The Sexual Revolution
When I Needed It? Despite his plays' plots, he claims to be a prude. Lew
says his two greatest productions are his son Christopher and daughter
Shannon. Finally, he wonders if you know the word that is always spelled
incorrectly.
Nicholas Thurkettle
Author of "The Rothko"
Nicholas is a writer and actor working throughout Southern California. His plays have so far been staged in California, Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. He co-authored the novel Seeing by Moonlight and authored the upcoming short story collection Stages of Sleep. Later this year the podcast Earbud Theater will premiere his sci-fi audio drama Habitat. He has sold and optioned screenplays including the comedy Queen Lara and the thriller Snowblind , both currently in development He studied Theatre Arts and Music at Bradley University, and is a proud member of the Writers Guild of America and the Orange County Playwrights Alliance.
